A simple sentence has one subject-verb pair. A compound sentence has two, joined by for/and/nor/but/or/yet/so (FANBOYS) with a comma.

Common Mistakes
- Calling a long simple sentence "compound" because it sounds complex
- Missing the comma before the conjunction in a compound sentence
