Teaching Notes
Have students read each fragment and ask "What part is missing?" before writing. Encourage them to check both subject and verb after completing.
Vocabulary
Fragment: An incomplete sentence missing key parts.
Subject: Who or what the sentence is about.
Verb: The action or state of being.
Common Mistakes
- Adding only a determiner ("The" + fragment) without fixing a missing verb
- Changing the meaning entirely instead of adding minimally
Extension Activities
- Add subjects to verb fragments.
- Add verbs to subject fragments.
- Write sentences from given fragments.
