Help students understand that Roman mythology borrowed heavily from Greek mythology but adapted stories to reflect Roman values (duty, empire, military honor). Discuss key differences: Zeus→Jupiter, Hercules→Hercules (same name), Athena→Minerva. The Aeneid and founding of Rome are useful anchor stories.

Legend: An old story believed to be true, often about a hero.

Deity: A god or goddess.

• Assuming Roman myths are identical to Greek myths — emphasize the cultural adaptations
