Teaching Notes
Use this as a summative review or assessment for the full pronouns unit. Encourage students to write the pronoun type next to their answer to show reasoning. This worksheet works well as a unit-exit ticket.
Vocabulary
Pronoun: Word that replaces a noun (e.g., he, she, it, they).
Indefinite Pronoun: Pronoun referring to a non-specific person, place, or thing.
Common Mistakes
- Confusing interrogative and relative who/whom/whose
- Selecting the first plausible pronoun without checking the type hint
- Forgetting that demonstrative words can function as adjectives (not pronouns)
Differentiation
SupportProvide the full pronoun-type reference list as a desk card and work through two questions together.
ChallengeAfter completing, group all 8 questions by pronoun type and explain the pattern for each.
Discussion Questions
- Which pronoun type do you feel most confident about? Which is still tricky?
- How do relative and interrogative pronouns overlap?
Extension Activities
- Create your own 8-question mixed pronoun quiz for a classmate.
- Write a short story that uses at least one pronoun from each major type.
Parent Tip
Ask your child to list different types of pronouns they know.
