Start with one writing prompt
- Talk and plan. Let your child choose an opinion and say one reason aloud. If helpful, start with “I think … because …”.
- Write and review. Follow the sentence count on the worksheet. Check for a clear opinion, a supporting reason, complete sentences and end punctuation. A different opinion from the sample answer is welcome.
- Try another prompt. Keep the same level and gradually reduce help. When your child can give a clear reason independently, invite another reason or an example.
Open the Key button, when available, for a sample response and what to look for. It is an example, not the only correct answer.
