Describe a favourite snack, then a rainy day. Choose specific words that help someone picture what you mean.

Notice the details
Read Describe a Delicious Snack. Pick a familiar snack and imagine it. On scrap paper, jot or draw details about its appearance, smell, and taste. Use memory; you do not need to eat anything. Choose two details that would help someone recognise your snack. Save the worksheet for the next session.

Write your description
Return to the snack prompt. Turn your notes into 3–5 sentences on the worksheet. Name the snack and include at least two specific details. Describe it rather than explain how to make it. Read your sentences aloud.

Choose clearer words
Reread your snack description. Find one general word, such as “nice” or “good,” and replace it with a more precise detail, such as “crunchy” or “sweet,” if that fits your snack. If your words are already precise, improve one unclear sentence instead. Keep the response to 3–5 sentences.
Session 4
Describe a rainy day
Open Describe a Rainy Day Inside. Remember or imagine watching rain from indoors. Talk about what you might see or hear and one thing you like doing inside. Write 3–5 sentences with at least two specific details. Try using what you learned about choosing clear words.

Choose your snack or rainy-day response. Use the checklist below and improve one detail if needed. Read it to someone and ask which words helped them picture it. Point out your own favourite detail. Keep both responses; there is no new worksheet.
For the adult
Use Describe a Delicious Snack (worksheet 28296) for sessions 1–3 and Describe a Rainy Day Inside (worksheet 28297) for session 4. Session 5 revisits one response. Print each student page once and keep sample answers separate. No food tasting or rainy weather is needed: use memories or imagination. Invite details the child can access or recall; do not require every sense. If writing is difficult, rehearse aloud and jot the child’s words before they build sentences. The adult may read the prompt or scribe an idea, noting the help given. If the task is easy, ask for precise words instead of a longer answer. Accept different descriptions from the sample answers. Compare actual writing and discuss what changed; completion alone does not show mastery.
